I can't get my iMac to back up at all. It stopped back in October. What do I do?

We cannot read minds, we have no idea what you used for backing up. My guess is you use Time Machine however we you to confirm that before trying troubleshooting.

Okay, first do some basic resets. Do a SMC (2-3 times) and PRAM reset then attempt to backup using Time Machine. Instructions for both resets are in iMac SMC and PRAM reset.
If TM will not backup, please include a screen shot of the error message you are receiving to your reply.
